He is the co-author of a recent paper on essential fatty acids and neuropathic pain published in "Practical pain management." He is also a contributing author for the recently published A4M textbook. He is the director of the Naturopathic Institute of Advanced Medicine in Oshawa and the Chief Naturopathic Doctor for the Canadian Center for Integrative Medicine in Markham. He is a member of the Transition Advisory Group for Government of Ontario, a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and a peer reviewer for the “Integrated Healthcare Practitioners Journal. With an emphasis on understanding research-based mechanisms of disease to restore health using integrative medical strategies, he sees a wide variety of complex health concerns. BIOGRAPHY Dr. Leigh Arseneau started his training with a 4 year honours degree in Biochemistry. He continued his training by completing 4 years of Naturopathic Medical School. Dr. Arseneau's focus is Functional and Integrative medicine, which provides a framework to bridge conventional and alternative medical concepts. His philosophy emphasizes education and he has conducted over 70 lectures for patients and physicians alike. Recent groups he has lectured for include the Society for Orthomolecular Medicine, Biomed Research, Pfizer Canada, The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Trubalance Healthcare, Ministry of the Environment, the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and Hearth Cancer Support Center. He has also appeared as a guest speaker on national and local television broadcasts including CTS and Roger's Cable. Dr Arseneau currently lectures regularly in integrative medicine to educatephysicians, pharmacists, chiropractors, dentists and other health care practitioners on current research in natural medicine.
PHILOSOPHY As a Naturopathic Doctor specialized in Functional Medicine, Dr Arseneau starts with a detailed assessment to address the mechanisms of disease and uses natural medicine to restore identified physiological dysfunction (imbalances). Through personalized care and by addressing the causative factors of disease, dependence on medication, both natural and pharmaceutical, can be minimized and, at times, eliminated.
